27 September 2011 - 08:39 AM
Sup hip hoppers, please take two minutes to register your name and email address and then vote for All Elements to win the funding from Natwest. We all know what a great influence the culture can be on peoples lives, so definitely a worthy cause.
PLEASE SHARE ON ALL POSSIBLE SOCIAL FORUMS - http://communityforc...om/project/1688
Thank you,

P.S. Born to Rock 20th anniversary jam is happening in 2012. My daughter is training up for the parent+child battles (once she's done her home work!) :-) -
BORN TO ROCK 20 YEARS YOUNG.......
04 September 2011 - 07:18 PM
Whuuuut, yeah it's true, Born to Rock crew is 20 years old next year (approx June I think
)
In 1991 we did our last show as the Inter City Breakers. We decided that we had chosen a name that didn't really carry over to an adult crew, and wasn't really saying anything, so we changed it. We were Tuff City for about 8 months before deciding it was a shit name
and then chose Fresh Force. In 1992 we were at Junks house (Second to None) and saw a poster for Battle of the Year and this announced a crew competing called Fresh Force. Without argument we dropped the name and spent a few weeks finding a new one. Due to a misunderstanding we agreed on a name Charlie Marbles came up with, I don't remember what that actually was, and a couple of days later I rang him to confirm 'was it Born to Rock that you said?'. His reply was 'No, but that is a fucking dope name so let's use it' and so we did.
So next year will see a Battle Jam rebirth with a day filled with the usual real Hip Hop flava you'd expect from our event. Over the years the Battle Jam has introduced new categories to this type of event, for the birthday year we will be featuring all the usual (popping, locking, breaking (crews), emceeing, youths, beatbox, turntablism, writing (some demo some battle). The two extras will be parent and child pairs battles and Born to Rock past and present vs the world as a finale battle.
People have travelled a shed load of miles and and a lot of people given their time for free for the Battle Jam over the last 12 years and I personally want to thank you for that cause you all made it the dope event it is!!!!!

Brighton Jam.....
24 May 2011 - 10:03 PM
Can't see it so I guess this hasn't been shared here. I'm too busy again this year for organising The Battle Jam, but that's no reason not to descend on the Hip Hop haven that is Brighton!!!!! This link should show you the Facebook page for 'Style Jam. It's at Sallis Benny where Battle Jam has been the last few years, very nicefloor.

If you're into Hip Hop as we know it, you will find a hell of a lot of it in Brighton. Make a day of it and take in the amazing talent of the local writers (you don't have to walk far to see stuff) and I'm sure there will also be some night time event after worth attending (I'll ask)
Be good to see some Battle Jam regulars there, looking forward to enjoying the event with NO WORK TO DO
