I guess instead of people choosing the challenger it has to go in order.
Or have less lives each,
or split the ten in half, so have a group of five on each side, then go one on one, the winner goes to the back of the group of five to play again and the loser gets knocked out. So it jus keeps going on rotation of battles. Ending with the last two.

That would work Dave, but they already have a bboy battle like that called 7tosmoke. Exactly the same rules you just put up, with 8 bboys in a line, winner stays on, and its the first to get 7 points or who ever has the most points at the end of the battle when the time limit is up.

I think this could work, still needs tweaking a little though, got a couple of suggestions:

1) when theres a tie, it should go to the person who throws down first. if the champion throws down first, then the challengers duty should be to beat the opponent, not tie. so the tie should go to the champion.

2)If the champion loses, does he get a strike? it will be too easy for a champion to get a strike, especially if he wins three battles in a row, he may already be tired! so perhaps, there should be a rule that the champion only gets a strike if he is unable to defeat at least one other challenger?

My tuppence on the matter anyway, it's good to try something new, it's an interesting concept.

me again- lol

I don't get the whole, if there's a tie the challenger or Champ wins, thing'. Yes it's up to a bboy to beat his opponent, buts it's not up to a bboy if it's a tie, it's the judges decision and a bboy has no power over that. It's impossible to tailor your throwdown to tie with another bboy and why would you in the first place?? As a bboy you wanna win.

What happened to tie equals extra round?? Plain and simple- don't get why a tie is favouring someone, leading to again, why I posted in the first place i.e. the best bboy on the day will most probably not win this contest.

Guess its like beating the dealer in Black Jack in my eyes for this one, you gotta beat what they got, not just match it. (I hate calling ties in judging anyway, so if I'm judging it, I'll do my best to avoid calling them)

sounds like if its a draw.. an extra round.

but similarly in Seven2smoke.. u have to choose either 1 or the other..
so maybe a rule of no draws, just win or lose?

Thanks Andy for the suggestions,

1)with regard who would win if the judges call a draw, this is nessesary to keep the compitition fluid and fast paced. in the rules it states that the challenger throwsdown first so the champion would have to beat the opponent hand picked not just draw exactly as you have said.

2) this was raised when we trialed the system. to not give the champion a strike made the competition to long and drawn out.

I understand what Manny is saying about the bboy who gets called out least winning, but in reality the best bboys get called out the least as you have to have the balls to call out someone you think will beat you easily.

The concept of last man standing is original, it sort of takes the 7 2 smoke idea and adds a cypher twist in that you have to be man enough to stand and face your opponent and call him/her out just as you always had to.
Original style.....

i was thinking bout this format and to illustrate what i was thinking, imagine i was the champ and among the challengers was mouse, every one knows mouse is the best in the UK and if you want to remain the champion then the wisest thing to do is not call out mouse. BUT, if you do that then after however long there are 4 people left in the comp and mouse is one of them, he hasnt been called out the whole day, he's fresh and has all his sets while I have used up all my rounds in previous battles so when it gets to the final hes gonna kill me.

if i REALLY wanted to win, i'd know that i had to beat mouse in order to do so and so i'd try to do it early and take him out as soon as i became champ. hell the wisest decision for all the bboys in the comp would be to take the strongest heads out first. yeah fine me and the following 4 bboys who battle may get taken out but bboy number 6 who gets a mouse who has gone 5 battles straight and has used up a lot of energy gets a good chance to beat him. and thus he can be chipped away. if he then goes onto destroy everyone then fair enough, he was the best bboy on the day, but if he loses then you've begun to chip away at his powerful arsenal and are that closer to winning.

hehe- Good point Soctopus, but I thought about that and realisically, if say Mouse was in the Competition, if I was being tactial I wouldn't want to try and take him out early, becos hey, he'd smoke me! What I'd do is pick him and get smoked, now I have lost a life, but hey, now Mouse is Champ and he's gonna start smoking bboys and taking there lives, but as I said in my original post, after about 6-10 rounds of smoking bboys he'd be dead and have used up a lot of stuff and so he'll start to loss simply cos his stamina is gone now. Now the bboy who has, and I repeat, been picked the least is gonna have most of his shit left as well as stamina and so they gonna find it easier to beat a tied Mouse.

It's what I'm trying to get at, the less your picked the easier it is, so for everyone in the comp its best that the dopest bboy there, say its Mouse, stays champion, cos it's not like a 7tosmoke where the more you win the more points you get, here the longer you stay champ the less likely you're gonna win. Cos until it comes down to about 4 bboys you're fucked as the Champ, cos you just gonna kill yourself trying to knock off 10 bboys!!

Now for me, I'd battle someone who's going to test me, cos hell, I wanna battle, not a walk over against someone who I know I can beat, what's the point of that. But that's me, and doing that I'd probably loss cos i'd be constantly calling out the best bboys, but for me, in a contest like this I'd just go for it cos again, what's the point of battling/picking someone you know you can beat. But now, if i really wanted to win, I'd hope not to get picked and if I did, I'd probably lose on purpose if I won more than 3 battles, just to save energy and throwdowns. And hopefully, if I'm on point that day, people won't pick me again for awhile, cos they wouldn't wanna loss there lives and therefore I have a better chance at winning now, cos no one is picking me, I get to rest and watch you use up your energy and moves, until the numbers drop, and then Bam, you have to pick me sooner or late now, and I'm ready, refreshed and with moves left to take people out.

Dam, I feel like L from Death note here- lol

Why is Foundationz' name down for the crew battles?

I had a phone call from one of you guys a while ago asking us to do the battle, told you i'd let you guys know and then within a few days i see our name down to battle without any confirmation.

You may as well take the name off the list because we won't be there, & i don't want this to lead to any Foundationz didn't show up/pulled out at the last minute scenarios. Unless i'm missing something, we didn't ever say we would do this battle; period.

Having said that, good luck with it.

Last year we had over 16 crews confirmed with only 11 actually showing up

we always endeavour to speak to more than one crew members before we confirm any crews. Am not sure where the info abt crews being put down without even being asked to enter comes from...

of course it would be silly to put names down for the sake of doing it as this ruins both the reputation of the crew and the event.

There seems to have been a misunderstanding with Foundationz and for that we can only apologise at this point. The post has been amended.

Hey Spin - Breakstation added to prelim battles

All extra spaces in the lineup will be filled from the Preliminary Battles. This means that more crews will be able to go though to the main champs. Please remember crews need to sign-up at 12:30pm.

Cheers
